Liessa's Journal Entry 10-2

We continued to hunt the vile spirit children. The next location to find one of these wretched ghost children was from within the walls of a haunted church or town hall. The eerie, music pouring out as we drew near gave me shivers even though I was not cold. When we enter the music stops and I saw a girl, a youth whom was singing to herself, as we drew near she disappeared. We then fanned out and the ghostly youth attacked Our owl from below the floorboard. She then would not show herself again so we ended up burning down the church.

Continuing we found a house of the little girl Karen – I think the one who died two days after being returned by the beast. Strange that the room is in such a lovely state. I found a present for my druid friend, a dress the child would no longer need, but would probably fit her nicely.

After searching a few more homes to no avail we head back to the burning church. This is where we encountered some tragic news. The cop was there but our dwarf friend was now an elf. Sark told us how Bofkas died valiantly and he met this fancy elf. Poor dwarf, he fought well.

The fancy elf knows a lot about wraiths and we decide to split up to hunt the remaining spawn. Freja and I head north, her perched upon my head. We search until we see a wraith boy, as we approach his house he fires sling bullets at us, Freja flies into the air, and the ghost chases her, I signal for her to flee, knowing that Bloostained Heart would send the boys damned soul to rest. The boy reappeared in the window, but then disappeared as my axe chopped down. The next time I see the out boy I am ready as he reaches for my face, I instinctively bite at it, which causes it to flinch and stumble. With his back to me I cut straight down the ghost boy’s back sending him back to oblivion. We fund nothing else in this part of town so we meet back with the others.

Our new companion suggests we check one of the children’s graves so he and the cop dig it up – apparently to use as evidence. We do the math and then Freja and I going and tactically lure out another boy wraith a quickly dispatch it.

With only one wraith left we get ready to finish it off and then we will ride back to Lepidstadt.

The first day of the trial seemed to go well. The people here did not kill the beast perhaps because something the knight said.
After court got out we split to go look for more evidence. We left the cop and Bofkas to investigate in town, and the rest of us headed to the see some women survivors of Herkstag – they just tell us that no one actually saw the beast do anything and there are 7 ghost children… at least I have the tools for dealing with ghosts.. we also find out that they trapped the town for trespassers so watch for traps.

Once there I have to save Karna from stepping in a bear trap almost right away. Helmets are no good if you cant see. At the first house we find we see a scarecrow that turns out to be a human and our little Owl friend spots some shinny coins and asks me in owl to hold the purse.

Moving on we find a wraithspawn child – must be one of the ghosts. So it wasn’t the beast killing kids cause it’s not a wraith. I rush it with Bloodstained Heart and take a mighty chunk out of this evil child. it swipes back and drains some of my essence and it heals the vile thing. I retaliate with a ferocious slash and the child dissipates.

Our next house we find a little ghost girl skipping rope. The old man and I flank her but then it walks right through the old man and disappears. All the while she sings her cursed rhyme. Karna sees her going in the house so he burns it down.

Liessa, Journal Entry 9

We have arrived in Lepidstadt and our groups strength of skills seems needed right away. This is what’s happened so far Journal

We arrived around dinner so we stayed at the Red Scarf Inn. Still feeling proud at our victory over Harrowstone we celebrated – well my little friend and the dwarf and me did. I don’t know what happened next, but according to the the rest of the group I was ‘inebri-something’. Thankfully Freja had something for my horrible hangover. But we were summoned to a judge’s house! Judge Elbrith wants us to deliver a red book to a professor, seems menial but we agree to do it. As we leave her house I hear the sound of large furniture being dragged across wood floor.

When we arrive at the university we find huge – well for non giant huge – foot prints and a smashed in wall. We meet the prof and he says that the only thing taken was some weird seathing eff N Gee. – whatever that is. The crime scene has a scent of beeswax near the back door – the magicky people say that’s important. So we drop off the book and go back to the Judge.

Back at the judge we finally get our money from Lorrimor‘s will. The judge then offers us double that money for proving the ’beast’ innoccent! and we have to help some courtroom guy. Bofkas wants to try tracking it – which sounds like more fun so Freja and I go.

In the woods we don’t find anything but dwarf things he can find more. Freja turns into a bear to try and track by smell but we end up wrestling. She is a a lot stronger as a bear. Impressive for such a small one in gnome body.

Once back in town we notice a huge burning man in the center of town. I check it out and then we meet with the rest of the group that wants to head to Morast to find evidence. Okay, sure, they will probably need help with the monsters that lurk out there.

So the town is on stilts, and this crazy town the people don’t get older and they say the water keeps them young. Looks gross but I drink some… tastes like gross water.

We talk to a guy who knows something, but before long we are on an island and a manticore is attacking us. This cowardly beast dares not land for fear of my blade and instead of dying honorably in battle it flees, but not before I am positive that I gave it an arrow wound it will not forget. Inside it’s nest we find a corpse and apparently some evidence for the trial or maybe that was the surgeon’s tools in that other boat. Either way we head back to Lepidstadt

Sark is reporting to his superiors…

interior Captian-Vicar’s office[the C-V, his scribe and another officer are sitting behind a table. Our hero, Inquisitor Sark is standing in front of the table. ]

Fate Preserve you, Captain-Vicar. I have presented my report in full to your clerk. In summary, I have sent several spirits trapped in Harrowstone on to their final reward with the help of Our Lady.
I was ably assisted in this by a Paladin of Iomedae, a gnomish druidess, dwarven ranger, a semi-human barbarian, and a monk who serves Asmodeus. I observed no anathema in any of these people. Mayhap the paladin can provide some connection to the Knights of Ozem?
You will have noted in Prof. Lorrimor’s journal, that he had uncovered evidence that the Whispering Way was active in Harrowstone and Ravengro. It is my opinion that this needs further investigation. We cannot allow the Tyrant or his followers to increase their blasphemy in any form. The Pallid Princess and all her abominations must be returned to the Graveyard! SHE HAS DENIED HER FATE! TAR-BAPHON MUST BE DESTROYED!!(cough, cough)
On that note, I met with Huuurk in the foothills on our trek to Lepistatdt, he is well and has not observed any movement from the tribes to the east, praise the Lady.

Liessa's Journal, Entry 8
The journey continues

Dear Journal,
We have been given boons and great thanks from the citizens of Ravengro. But now our month is up so we said our goodbyes to Kendra and the town. As cushy as its been I long for the trek north to Lepidstadt, it will be good to have the brisk cold air in my lungs again.
We made our path into the mountains and upon our first nights rest we were ambushed by 3 dire bats. While it was not my watch when I awoke I flew at one that had just bit the Druid’s pet. Slashing it twice with my clawed tips I caused grievous wounds but not quite fatal. The rest of my companions had dispatched the other two as Senji got sweet death dealing revenge on his attacker. The rest of the night was uneventful.
The next morning brought snowfall and by late afternoon we spotted an abandoned castle in the distance – a perfect place to make camp.
Inside the castle walls while doing a sweep to see if there was a suitable place to make camp Karna seemed to trip over a trap door into a cellar area. Descended down we came upon a hidden weapons cache! I had found two more great swords – one that radiates magic and one that is made of the fey killing material – cold iron. There was also a longbow of superior quality that I have become acquainted with and finally a breastplate made of the wonderful substance Mithral. It fits like a second skin and I can barely tell it is there.
I also noticed another secret door that was trapped to shut, prying it open we continued on and discovered 2 gelatinous monstrosities – one that Karna and I annihilated! Meanwhile the other one had ensnaredthe dwarf and paralyzed the old man. Seeing an ally trapped I let loose my fury and after lodging an arrow in the sludge I chop Bofkas free.
The group then discovered a trapped regenerating troll that was being forever killed by spikes. The group set it free and it fled so I helped to dispatch of the evil beast. We then rested for the night.
The next almost week is rather uneventful until we meet a Weird carnival ran by man named Kaleb. He had a carnie lost in the marsh so we agreed to help him.
Tracking the girl proved easy due to Senji’s nose. In a clearing of razor grass we heard screams from different directions and then Karna was assaulted by a phase spider – I recognized it right away and knew of its deadliness. The moment it latched onto the Paladin I unleashed my rage and hacked into it. It was weak and fled after only moments of my blade slashing away.
We unfortunately found the remains of the girl in the spiders lair. Returning the body the carnival master asked us to escort them the last day to Lepidstadt.
And the rest of the trip was smooth and wonderful for stretching the legs.

The candle flickered in the room, throwing it’s soft light across the stone walls and heavy oaken table and chairs. Inquisitor Garf, the lean grey-haired captain serving as Retainer of the Chapel at the moment, leaned across the table and stared directly into Karna’s eyes.

“That is an interesting story about the vampire and how you disposed of him. Now tell me why you were delayed in returning here? We thought you would have been here at least seven days ago. You extended absence has come to the attention of Abbot Bacalis. He was concerned for your safety.” The lack of compassion or sincerity in Garf’s voice was clear that he didn’t share the Abbot’s concerns, or was simply lying.

Karna met the inquisitor’s stare as he leaned forward and rested his arms on the edge of the table.

“As I mentioned, there was an old gaol that was haunted, and the thief’s companions were attempting to remove the evil taint from the place. They were without spiritual guidance save for a follower of Pharasma, so I thought it sensible to assist.”

Garf’s voice was quite, yet still showed a little tension. “So you thought it a wise service of Our Lady to fall in with the friends and allies of a wanted criminal? Were you interested in personal gain or had you forgotten that your faith demands you glorify our Order at all times. Not consort with folk such as these.”

Karna stared right back at Garf across the table and paused for a moment. “The vampire’s companions and their goals were admirable, and in the course of our time together, they proved themselves focused on ridding the stain of evil from Harrowshire and Revengro. I was not concerned about their motivations and believe the vampire must have duped them somehow into trusting them.”

Leaning back, Karna began adjusting his gauntlet, flexing his fingers and pulling on it’s strap. After a moment, he loosened both shoulders and looked up at Garf, “you have no reason to doubt me”, he said.

Garf and Karna stared at each other in a long silence, the only sound the rain on the flagstones outside the window and their breathing. The candle flickered as Garf’s eyes searched Karna’s for any sign of deception or cunning as he sat unmoving across the table. Karna hadn’t been interogated this way before, let alone by a Retainer. The vastness of the church always attracted liars and cheats into it’s ranks, so these sorts of discussions were not uncommon. Truthfully he didn’t really care too much for Garf, and was beginning to doubt the captain’s motives himself. Perhaps the interrogation should be turned around he thought to himself. He surrendered to a small smile as the two men sat alone.

“Something funny?” Garf accused.

“Not really, but why is it that you are the one questioning me when I was outside the city, finding and defeating the enemies of Iomedae while you slept warm at night?”

Garf leapt up from his chair, sending it tumbling behind him with a clatter. He jabbed a finger at the table in front of Karna while leaning in closer to him, “You think to question me? I have seen things that only exist in your nightmares, boy.” He slammed a fist down on the table, rattling the candle holder so it nearly tipped over, “So why don’t you let me ask the questions, and you answer them truthfully. And don’t forget that you are just a Sword subject to Bacalis’ will, and that means you are subject to mine. So unless you want to spend the next season cleaning the stables and standing watch of a latrine, you best curb that tongue of yours.”

It took all Karna’s resolve to not flinch at Garf’s outburst. This man definitely liked to be in authority and didn’t want to be questioned. Perhaps playing along for a while might be best . . .

“Ask me anything, Retainer, and I will answer truthfully, never fear.” He leaned back and clasped his hands in front of his chest, “Iomedae be forever in my heart, guide both my thoughts and my deeds that they forever be just.” He rested his hands on his thighs and looked down at the floor.

“That’s better, boy.” Garf barked as he turned to right his chair. He took a moment to adjust his tabard and belt, then sat again and crossed his legs. “So tell me of your journey from Ravengro to Lepidstadt. If your earlier tale is to be believed, you took ten days, which is typical this time of year. I imagine your trip was uneventful then?”

“Not exactly, Retainer. We travelled east around Lake Lias, and some giant bats attcked our encampment in the night. The fell easily, but none of us rested easily afterward.

“Likely attracted by your fire.” Garf grunted.

“Indeed. We came to a ruined fort on our second day. Within the ruin we stumbled upon the dungeon and weapon room of the troop that once manned the place. Strangely. the dungeon held a troll in a state of perpetual torture by some strange spike machine. We released him and provided a permanent and merciful end with a torch and some oil.”

“The weapon room held some very interesting arms and armour. For example, I found the wonderfully sharp sword I left with your squire when I came and sat down. It seems to be made of some kind of black glass, and delivers viscious wounds. There was some kind of ooze creature in the chamber outside the dungeon. It could slide through the corridor and swept it clean of all dirt and dust. It slid toward us to clean us as well, so I charged it with this black sword. I cut the thing clear in half! There was a second monster as well, and my companions, the same ones you doubted a moment ago, dispatched.”

“Mind your tone, boy!” Garf said, reacting to my jibe.

“Of course, Retainer.” Karna said, holding up both hands in apology. “The weapons are of very high quality, so we took them to vanquish evil. After the fort, our path took us into the foothills near Tamrivena, and then on to Courtard. Small settlements these, not offering us much beyond a hot meal and a bed, but still better than sleeping under the stars at this time of year. From Courtland we travelled along the river down to Lepidstadt.”

“And that is all?” Garf questioned.

“Not remotely! A day’s ride from town we came upon a small group of caravans at the side of the road. Some sort of travelling carnival. Freaks and acrobats mostly. Their leader implored us to find a lost girl that he thought had wandered into the swamp. Of course I agreed, and we set off into the swamp.”

“One of my companions has a pet lizard that is the most amazing animal for finding tracks. Better than any dog I have ever met. It quickly found the trail and lead us deep into a marsh. Knee deep water and razor grass was everywhere. Our progress was slow. When we heard some crying and noises ahead, we ran up to them, but the noises moved as well.”

“Suddenly a great spider appeared in front of me and bit me, but then vanished! It had some sort of poison that rapidly weakened me and I fell. It returned a moment later out of thin air to bite me again, and tried to drag me off. My companions rallied to my defense and drove the monster away.” Rolling up my sleeve, he showed Garf the still visible bite mark on his arm. Garf nodded at the wound.

“So, after the thing vanished, we searched around and found the body of the girl, and several other people as well. We wrapped her body and took her back to the carnival where we surrendered her to the caravan leader with much sadness. Later the leader asked us to escort his troop to the city gates which we did. I believe they are set up outside the south gate now.”

“Once inside the city, I took my companions to the Red Scarf where we took rooms and then I came here to advise of the fate of the vampire.”

Another long pause as Garf leaned back in his chair, uncrossed and crossed his legs again. He checked the nails of his right hand for a moment and then looked up. “Likely what you saw was a Ghost Spider. They can move between this world and their own Ethereal Realm with ease, and often use this ability to capture prey and drag them back to their lair in the Ether. You are fortunate that wasn’t your fate. I will dispatch a more capable group to seek it out and dispatch it in the morning.”

Garf continued, “I will report to the Abbot that you were distracted in your return by activities not without merit. But I will caution you; when sent to seek a fugitive, you must return hastily to share news of your efforts. If I have any further questions I will send for you at the Red Scarf. Furthermore, I trust you understand the costs associated with the work we do in the name of Our Lady?”

Sitting up straight in my chair, I said with a subtle tone of indignation, “Indeed Retainer, you need not remind me of the role we play. I have taken my vows.”

“That is good. I trust that you and your companions will act accordingly. It will be very expensive to find that Ghost Spider you failed to deal with.” With that, Garf rose from his chair, gave a hasty salute and walked fromt he room, leaving Karna to contemplate his words. Bringing justice to the world in the name of Iomedae will forever be in my heart, but the business of the church . . . that is far more political than holy. And it’s clear that here in Lepidstadt, Retainer Garf is not only concerned with service to Iomedae.

Karna was still adjusting hiw sword belt as he left the guardhouse and entered the rain. Fatigued from the interrogation, he walked in the rain back to the Red Scarf and quietly went to his room for some much needed rest.

Freja's Findings - Free of the Prison at Last!

We went back to the prison and entered Reaper’s Hold. ‘Essa put the keys to good use in opening in the doors down the hallway. They are starting to come in handy. Though…she looked both ways first and shook the keys extra hard when she turned the handle.

Three skulls were sitting on a table, with a fourth skull being pieced back together from other skulls and the dried out husk of a dwarf on the ground. The paladin went to go crush the skull in of the dead dwarf when the three heads on the table began to rise and the haunt of the fallen dwarf (The Marauder) .

Sengi made me so proud when he rushed into the room to take out the last skull. ‘Anna captured the Marauder and took him away. ‘Essa found a hidden door when she was smacked into the wall enough to knock something loose. Behind it we found the weapons cache along with:
Wand of holding (which Sengi snatched out of the trunk and started playing with it a bit)

Beyond the portcullis, we find the torture chamber. The paladin tells us there is a fair amount of evil coming from the Iron Maiden. That’s when the hands came skittering out of the wood work. I was a bit grossed out at this, even having encountered the flying severed heads from before. Somehow, the hands are just…icky.

The paladin was lured towards the Iron Maiden and was almost killed by the doors slowly closing in on him. After a quick…cleansing…of the hands, I opened the haunt siphon on the maiden and trap it completely in the siphon. It was a glorious moment when I reminded the paladin of his manners by yelling ‘You’re welcome!’ at his general direction while I got back to seeing if Sengi had finished destroying the hand that was attacking him.

‘Essa gave me the badge of the Warden to make up for her spilling the beans about the gold we found in the safe.

When we beat back the last of the baddies, we went back to talk to ‘Anna. She let us know that she could hold the evil spirits in their perpetual torments, and when she was freed from this place, she would take them with her. ‘Essa took the badge she gave from me and gave it to ‘Anna…then there was a bright white light and a feeling of peace and thankfulness pass through me before we were truly alone in the prison for the first time.

As we get back to the town, the townspeople greeted us at the house, singing our praises. Gibbs was arrested for slaughtering livestock and public destruction…

The town was so happy about our success in destroying the evil at the prison that they gave us 310 gold pieces each. Wonderful! I am still incredibly excited about the fact that I now have a new mythral sword. The others call it a ‘dagger’, but I know in my heart of hearts that it’s been a sword just waiting for the right gnome to come along. Kendra gave us another 600 gold to split between the six of us for copying the spells from the spell book we found in the prison (only 100 for me…). I take the sliver flute and try to learn how to play it…maybe I can train Senji to do tricks to some of the tunes I can crank out. It also turns out that the ring that ‘Essa gave me instead of us keeping all the 500 gold for ourselves. Turns out it was worth 300 gold. I fashion it into a bauble for a necklace and wear it proudly. I also took the bronze war medallion and decided I had seen enough battle that I earned it enough to wear it.

Glorious Success

Journal I have great information! We have finally saved Vesorianna from her duties of watch the vile ghosts – or more appropriately I was the one to finally let her rest. Here’s how it happened.

We journey back to Harrowstone and headed for the Oubliette. It took a great feat of strength to raise the portcullis and my male companions helped to play their part. Entering in we were attacked by a wraith – thats what the churchy people called it. I was able to chop into it with my new axe – finally I can hurt these damned souls and give them more pain that they deserve! However, it was tricky, it could float through walls and the blasted gate – this oversite caused one my blows to accidently hit the old man – i must appologize for this. It also caused spectral claw marks that hurt like hell, continue the fight it was my final swing of the axe folowed by [[:sark | Sark]’s holy water that caused Vesorianna to appear and take him away.

We then explored the oubliette even further and at the bottom of what seemed like a never ending hole there was a skeleton and it had a key! There was other stuff too, but I grabbed the key and told the group I was going to try the key in the safe. The party caught up to me just in time to me showing my disproval at the key not working. I then ran to see the Warden’s wife. We found the Lopper in a guillotine – I laughed to myself at the sweet justice! The key also didn’t work on the door – I may have punched the wall in frustration, it’s a little hazy right now. We went back to town then. A rather uneventful evening.

The next morning before returning to the Reaper’s Hold in the Prison I picked up my brand new sword. The blacksmith has made a fine weapon.

Inside the Hold we eventually found a spectral dwarf – The Mosswater Marauder! And 3 little floating skulls. The fiendish ghost connected with me once and if felt like a stampede just trampled my head. Karan then threw out his ‘good good’ juice and shattered 2 of the floating skulls and the little dinosaur was able to swat the 3rd down. This caused The lovely lady to appear and take him away.
We then found a secret door – and my new keys worked!!!!

We found an armory and I was able to find brand new armor. It fits just a little bit slugger than my old armor – must have been made for a weak man.
After re equipping ourselves we moved into a torture room. A large iron maiden sat in the middle and then a small army of severed hands attacked us. I tried do a spinning mOove past Sark and ended up throwing my sword to the side. There was a haunt in the iron maiden and Freja was able to catch it in her siphon! Good for her! After severing the digits of the final hand I went to pick up my sword and noticed a shiny badge on the rack – it was the warden’s badge. Since I have promised to help Vesorianna Hawkran I put the badge on.

There was another secret door into the underground, we started to go in but Bofkas reminded me that I had found another new key, I gave the old keys to the dwarf as the The Druid hitched a ride as I ran upstairs!
In the safe there were old papers and 500 gold coins – Freja wanted us to keep this a secret. I considered it. There were also some potions.
In the vault room there was a whole bunch of art and fancy things – I put silver hair clips in and ended up giving my last ring to Freja. And I found a silver war razor that I am keeping in my bodice.
Then behind a secret compartment we found personal items of each of then well known prisoners. I was tempted to use The Lopper‘s axe but then thought better of it- evil people can leave evil blood on their weapons and my new sword was more my style anyways. We locked this cubby up and thought it best to go and see how the group was doing.
When we Finally caught up to them again they were fighting the strongest undead – a ghost! It was The Splatter Man. He summoned dire rats which I eviscerated one right away with a quick snicker snack of my sword. The dwarf made a mistake and chased the ghost over deep water, I heroically helped get him out before he drowned and then I took up his magical mace and rushed this foul creation. He tried again again to summon spiders that I helped to demolish under crushing blows of the mace. At one point Karna fell having received the full wrath of the ghost. In the end it was Sark who landed the killing blow on the ghost and Vesorianna appeared and took him away.
Returning to her we found all the five ghosts caged up in her room, but she was unable to pass on. It was then that I remembered that I had found her husband’s badge and I handed it to her. An immense white light filled the room! Vesorianna Hawkran finally was able to pass on because my help. Although I feel like someone is now watching over me. All that was left was the badge in the room and I seem to have developed a weird marking in the shape of the warden’s badge. I now wear the badge remembering her help and the sacrifice she made in that Hell-Hole!
Once home we were celebrated as heroes!

Freja's Journal...Day 3 in the Prison
The excrement keeps hitting the oscillating blades...

Day 3 at the prison:

We entered the basement of the prison through a hole in the floor. I hit something disgusting and squishy with a ball of fire before I went down the shaft into the murky water. Ew. My new barbarian friend came back for me and Senji after the rest of the slimy creatures were dispatched.

I avoided the water with all my might. There was an oozy film on the top of it. Not something I wanted to get on myself. ‘Essa, on the other hand, was covered in it. I created water and helped get the worst of it off of her…and do something with her hair while I had a moment. It’s the little things in life sometimes…

We came out of the room with the stagnant water and came out into the room with far too many smouldering skeletons. ‘Essa had mentioned these to me in passing in the days before – I tried dousing them in water, but it was no use. They worked us over. It was like a comedy of errors before it was finally over. I healed ‘Essa after she fumbled her sword and managed to really get herself in the arm with a nasty gash. Before the end of the fight, she was on the ground unconscious. Not her finest hour. I took a bad hit from one of the skeletons once they caught fire. I also, embarrassingly, managed to bean myself in the face with a rock from my sling. I think it might have ricocheted off the dwarf’s helmet.

We searched around for a while after the combat and found three hallways: The Oubliette, The Nevermore, The Reaper’s Hold. Someone opened the door to the guard’s room by the Oubliette and the headless skeleton that was pinned to the desk (I assume he angered someone enough to have them do this to him before they removed his head).

Head Guardsman Gurtis Vortch – the skeleton in the room that caught fire immediately. We were all a bit concerned, to say the least…’Essa ended up with his axe. She seemed pretty happy about the outcome, even though she was a bit chagrined at the earlier accident when she went to draw her sword. I might send Sengi to go cheer her up later. Maybe bring her a nice tasty dragonfly to boost her spirits.

After the fight, we got the hell out of there and went back to town to tend to our wounds. My pride was wounded more than my eye with the slingshot off the paladin’s helmet (maybe the dwarf’s helmet…it was a gong show in there…I’m just glad Sengi didn’t get singed), when we were fighting the skeletons.

‘Essa found the rings on Vortch’s desiccated hand and traded one of them for a shiny new sword and flail. She seemed quite please with herself after that, all things considered.

We’re now resting up and waiting for the shiny new weapons to be made for the rest of the party. I want to venture out and try to track down something that will hurt the undead, since my weapons are woefully ineffective so far…

Well I am glad to be alive to say the least. I will definitely be returning to Harrowstone to redeem myself. So I guess I should tell you why I am hanging my head and licking my wounds tonight.

I awoke two days after we got back to town, wiped the drool from my mouth and then we ate breakfast. Before leaving town the paladin bought a rope ladder.

When we went back to that awful place we descended into the lower level. The paladin led the way down the rope ladder and the moment he touched down, 3 of these 3 slimers attacked us. We slew the vile undead but not before I was slimed…again. The Druid kindly dropped fresh water on me. She is a helpful shaman.

Moving out of the water room we entered a room laden with skeletons. They were the burning type… Again. This was not my finest hour. First I could not hit them. And then as I was drawing my sword to move through two of them I caught my blade on my bicep. I screamed louder than ever before. I could feel the blood that pumps my muscles draining. Thankfully the witch hunter was able to stop the bleeding right away. I think obliterated the one in frnt of me, however, that was when the skeletons burst into flames, attacked in sequence and I fell unconscious.
I awoke to the skeletons being defeated and gave a nod to the paladin who had defended the rest of the party when I could not.

Moving on, we found that this room poured into three different directions. Entering the Nevermore we found an empty guard room. I destroyed the beds…it felt good.
In the Oubliette we found Head Guard Gurtis Vortch beheaded and spiked to the wall. Entering the room, it attacked… I crunched into it and when it struck back it’s axe bit bitterly hard and I was again knocked down. Once revived, I took the guards dog tags and hand – later found 3 rings on it. The Cop grabbed his axe – we later found out it was magical, and I traded him a ring for it. I will be able to hurt ghosts now! We left the hellhole for another day

Back in town we went to the armory, and I traded a ring for a better sword – it will take 2 days to make. I also bought a flail- I will pound these undead to pulp!
